School Cabinet News

We, the School Cabinet, have been reviewing our communications systems and will be posting half termly updates on the school website to keep you informed of all our latest news.  Here's just a flavour of our work from the last half term.
On Thursday, 12 January we met with Ahmed Ismaili, the Executive Chef of Chartwells, our school catering company.  We were delighted with the large number of ideas we got from students in our student cabinet letterbox suggesting how we could further improve the canteen.  Proposals were wide ranging and included offering a packed lunch box meal, increasing the fresh fruit on offer, including the weekly menu in the student bulletin and having more themed days. Remember that you can check the school lunch menu on the school website by following this link here: school lunches. We will be meeting with Ahmed Ismaili next term to review what changes have been put in place.  Watch this space!
This half term we also met with Ms Lane, Assistant Headteacher, to share our views on how we could further improve our weekly student bulletin.  As a result of our meeting, the bulletin will only include slides about new information; extra-curricular clubs will be advertised instead via posters on tutor noticeboards. We will include weekly slides feeding back key discussion points from the student cabinet meetings and sharing our agendas for the following meeting.
A highlight of our meetings is when we get to select the Jack Petchey Award winner from student and staff nominations.  We are delighted to announce that this month's Jack Petchey Award goes to Precious Kufeji-Ajai in Year 12 for her outstanding resilience an attitude to learning in the face of extremely challenging circumstances.  Precious will receive £250 to spend on an educational trip or equipment for the school.
We look forward to sharing next month's Jack Petchey winner in our March newsletter.
