Problem Solving in Mathematics

On Friday 11 February, students in the set 1 class worked on a variety of problem solving tasks in class. This is part of our routine process at Brentside High to encourage our students to work as mathematicians to think independently.

Problem solving places focus on the students making sense of mathematical ideas by exploring the mathematics within a problem context rather than as an abstract. These skills are essential as a foundation for all students to have as students gradually work towards building their knowledge, skills and confidence necessary for GCSE and beyond.
