Celebrating Success at Brentside 2025

Year 13 A Level and BTEC Results 2025

Brentside High School students have once again achieved outstanding results, surpassing last year’s impressive performance (which placed Brentside in the top 15% nationally for A Levels, and in the top 5% and 16% nationally for Level 2 and Level 3 BTECs respectively,) in a number of key measures.

We proudly report that over 75% of students achieved at least one top grade at A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction (including the Extended Project Qualification). Even more impressively, 92% of students achieved at least one grade at A*-B or Distinction*-Merit (including EPQ). A*-A grades sit at 29 % and A*-B grades at 58%, reflecting exceptional academic strength across subjects. In vocational qualifications, the success is equally striking: 81% of all BTEC grades were Distinction*/Distinction, and a staggering 99% fell within the Distinction* to Merit range. These results showcase the breadth and depth of excellence across all pathways.

Brentside’s students are at the heart of its success. Their exceptional outcomes are a direct result of their relentless hard work, passion for learning, and commitment to excellence. These grades are not accidental; they reflect the disciplined routines and high aspirations our students bring to school every day. Behind every achievement is a story of determination, supported by strong teaching, meaningful student-teacher relationships, and the unwavering encouragement of families and staff. Every grade earned is a powerful testament to the belief our students have in themselves and the belief we have in them.

“This year’s results reflect the extraordinary commitment and maturity of our students. Whether pursuing A Levels or BTECs, they have embraced every challenge and worked tirelessly to achieve their goals. What stands out most is their genuine curiosity, drive, and desire to make a difference beyond Brentside. They leave us not just with outstanding grades, but with the confidence and character to thrive in the next stage of their journeys.”  Hider Mahdi, Assistant Headteacher (Sixth Form)

“Our fantastic students have achieved superb results this year, clearly demonstrating that their determination, resilience, and ambition have truly paid off. I am deeply grateful to our families for the unwavering support they’ve shown throughout this journey, and to our staff whose dedication and belief in each student has helped to make this success possible.”  Charlotte Hames, Headteacher

Celebrating Year 11 Success with the Class of 2024

Congratulations to our Year 11 students on all that they have achieved- not just in the grades they have collected today, but in the people that they have become, the individual progress they have made and the determination, hard work and positivity that has characterised their journeys.

With a reported full national return to pre-pandemic grading levels, we are delighted to be able to celebrate the significant number of top grades, with 43% of our students achieving between one and 13 x 7-9 grades (A/A* equivalent) and a core group of students, some of whom we celebrate below, achieving between eight and 13 of these top grades each. In total our students achieved almost 392 top grades between them.

Examples of some of our individual students’ success stories are:

  • Stella: Grade 9x6, Grade 8x4, grade 7x1, Grade 6x1
  • Daniel W: Grade 9x5, Grade 8x4, Grade 7x1, Grade 5x1, Grade pass x1
  • Saif: Grade 9x3, Grade 8x5, Grade 7x2, Grade 6x1, Grade pass x1
  • Toby:  Grade 9x3, grade 8x6, Grade 7x1, Grade 5x2
  • Hamid: Grade 9x1, Grade 8x4, Grade 7x5, grade 6x2

  • Razvan: Grade 8x3, Grade 7x4, Grade 6x4, Grade merit x1

We also celebrate some exceptional performances across subject areas, with 100% of students achieving 5-9 grades in Physics, and 96% of students achieving 5-9 grades in Chemistry and in Biology. Particularly strong individual performances are also evident in English Language and Literature, History, Heritage Languages and Mathematics. We are especially proud of successes in citizenship, a subject we place great value on, reinforcing our British Values and enabling our students to understand and participate in the governance and politics of our country.

Success is of course relative to each individual and we celebrate and congratulate all students whose individual grades, across the grade spectrum, reflect exceptional progress during their time at Brentside.

Headteacher, Charlotte Hames, commented:

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ individual successes this year and of their hard work, talent and determination. We thank our parents and carers for working in partnership with us over the years, and our dedicated staff team, who have guided, supported and inspired our students on their journey.”

To our students, we look forward to welcoming you back in September as you embark on your Sixth Form courses, with all the excitement that comes from specialising in the subjects you are most passionate about and from the increased independence and supported challenge that Sixth Form life brings.

We are confident that you will go on to mirror this year’s fantastic A Level and BTEC results, where 21% of all A Level grades were A*/A and half of all grades were A*-B. In the vocational courses, 68% of all grades were Distinction*/Distinction and 93% Distinction*-Merit. An impressive 76% of Brentside students achieved at least one of these top grades. We know that you will flourish through the additional opportunities that our students access at Brentside, alongside their chosen courses. To those of you who are moving on to specialise at college, apprenticeship, training programme or other courses, we wish you the very best for the future and look forward to hearing of your success.
